This seminar familiarizes students with some of the fundamental theoretical, philosophical, and interpretive works on aesthetic formation, temporality, and the techne of sense-making from whose interrelation critical and dialectical literary, social, and media theory all continue to derive today. These include works by Diderot, Lessing, Kant, Hegel, Freud, Austin, and Jakobson.
