Info tab content
We will be reading Euripides' Medea together. Medea, who fled her home in Colchis leaving tragedy in her wake, is abandoned by the Greek hero she saved when he decides to make a new, more opportune marriage. Reading through the play with care, we will attend to the many facets of Medea revealed in the play before its shocking ending. We will explore the complex dynamics of gender, "Greek" identity, and power while reflecting on the unstable boundary between mortal and immortal in the figure of Medea herself.
