Info tab content
This course covers the theory of classical fluids and modern treatments of non-equilibrium statistical mechanics. Topics include classical density functional theory, molecular and associating liquids, inhomogeneous fluids, reciprocal relations, mode-coupling theory, large-deviation theory, stochastic thermodynamics, dynamical phase transitions, and techniques for studying non-equilibrium fluids via computer simulation. Applications to soft matter, molecular self-assembly, and biophysics are introduced through discussion of selected papers from the current literature.
