In this workshop, led by Julio Guzman, students carry out an in-depth analysis of a specific Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with special attention to two subjects: (i) the national and cross-border welfare distributional effects and (ii) the available public policy options to maximize gains (complementary policies) and to minimize losses (compensatory policies). The analysis and policy recommendations should consider the short and long-term economic, social, and geo-political implications of the trade agreement. As part of the analysis, students discuss impacts on economic growth, employment, income, poverty, and migration.
